The third largest pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in the world and the largest hydroelectric power plant in the Czech Republic. Most of the buildings are located underground, while the structures on the surface are respectfully integrated into the surrounding landscape and form a harmonious whole.

Excursions to the pumped-storage power plant are available all year round on weekdays, including holidays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., always by prior online booking (last excursion at 4 p.m.). During the tour, you will visit the technological operations in the huge underground spaces, the lower reservoir and the impressive upper reservoir at an altitude of 1,350 m on Mravenečník Mountain. The excursion also includes a visit to the Visitor Centre at Dlouhé Stráně, where you will watch a film about the unique hydroelectric dam, see a model with a cross-section of the underground power plant and get information about the surrounding nature and about ČEZ. Excursions are organised all year round, but in winter months, due to snowdrifts, the upper reservoir is not visited.

The power plant boasts three “bests”: the largest reverse water turbine in Europe – 325 MW, the power plant with the largest gradient in the Czech Republic – 510.7 m and the largest installed capacity in the Czech Republic – twice 325 MW. In 2005, the Dlouhé Stráně pumped-storage power plant was ranked among the seven greatest wonders of the Czech Republic.
